My Resume: Resume

After 30 years of experience in writing, editing, teaching,
management and consulting, Jackie Jones decided to
become a life coach, working with people who want to
enhance or change their careers.

Before launching Jones Coaching, she was a senior
lecturer at Penn State University, where she taught
news reporting, copy editing and ethics.

Prior to joining Penn State in 2003, Jones was an
assignment editor at The Washington Post. Jones
spent more than 25 years as a reporter, copy editor,
assignment editor, city editor and metro editor in a
number of newsrooms, including, in addition to The
Post, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Philadelphia
Daily News, New York Newsday and the Detroit Free
Press.

In addition to her journalistic duties, Jones was an
effective counselor to and mediator between editors,
reporters and departments. She was consulted often about
personal issues that affected employees' professional
performance, which led to her decision to become a coach.

Jones graduated from George Washington University
with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and has done
some post-graduate work in media studies at Penn
State. She was certified as a life coach in August 2007 by
the Coach Training Alliance.
